UOG President Anita Borja Enriquez and Capt. Troy Brown, NAVFAC Marianas Commanding Officer, signed the MOU at NAVFAC Marianas’ Guam headquarters on Nimitz Hill. She said developing Guam’s professional workforce continues to be an important area where the University delivers public value.
“Entering into this relationship is historic because it creates this pipeline and provides an opportunity for us to build the kinds of capacity that we’ve been wanting to build,” said President Anita Borja Enriquez. “We want to help build the middle class by preparing our students at the University for jobs that will benefit different sectors including the Navy and the rest of the Armed Forces.”
"Forging this new partnership with the University of Guam is important to all of us to enhance critical capabilities and grow new opportunities here,” said Capt. Brown. “Our NAVFAC Marianas team is excited to bring more local talent to our workforce and provide sustainable career pathways for engineering students where they will gain valuable experience while contributing to our shared vision for the future.”
Kendra O. Finklea, Human Resources Director for NAVFAC Marianas, helped lay the groundwork for the MOU.
Recently a NAVFAC Marianas HR team visited UOG. Bharti Hemlani, Lead Human Resources Specialist and acting HR Director at NAVFAC Marianas, also participated in a panel discussion with Enriquez and community stakeholders about UOG’s role in workforce development.
