CBCM (SCW) MICHAEL B. HATHAWAY

Master Chief Hathaway is from Omaha, Nebraska. He attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois and Builder “A” School at the Naval Construction Training Center, Gulfport, Mississippi.

Master Chief Hathaway’s first Duty Station was Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE, Gulfport, Mississippi. During this tour he completed deployments to Guam, Sigonella Sicily, Chinhae Korea, and Iraq. Positions held included Detachment Safety and Quality Control Representative, Battalion Quality Control Inspector, and Battalion Operations LPO.

In July 2008 Master Chief Hathaway transferred to Naval Construction Training Center, Gulfport, Mississippi and was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. During this tour he served as the Builder “A” School Course Manager responsible for the “A” School Course Curriculum and management of fifty-seven Civilian and Active Duty Builder “A” School Instructors. He was later assigned as the Echo Company Leading Chief Petty Officer responsible for the Military Training, Safety, and well-being of 300 Navy Steel Worker and Builder “A” School Students.

In October 2010, Master Chief Hathaway returned to NMCB One and was assigned to Charlie Company as the Charlie Company Operations Chief. In preparation for the upcoming CENTCOM deployment, he was reassigned as OIC of Tactical Infrastructure Construction Team TWO. During the CENTCOM Deployment, his team was responsible for numerous construction projects in support of International Security Assistance Forces directly supporting combined combat operations with 4-4 Cavalry and 2nd Brigade 8th Infantry throughout Southern Afghanistan.

Following his tour with NMCB One, Master Chief Hathaway transferred to NMCB Seventy-Four to assume the duties as Operations Chief (S3C) where he completed deployments to EUCOM, AFRICOM and CENTCOM. Upon Decommissioning of NMCB Seventy-Four, Master Chief transferred to NAVFAC Far East as the Senior Enlisted Leader overseeing a force of 100 Seabees and Sailors spread across ten locations throughout Japan, Korea, and Diego Garcia. In August 2017 he transferred to Naval Construction Group Two, Gulfport, Mississippi and assumed the duties as Training and Operations Department Chief (N3/N7C). In June 2021, Master Chief Transferred to Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Pacific to assume the duty as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

Master Chief Hathaway is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), and the Battle “E” Ribbon (2). He is Seabee Combat Warfare Qualified and has earned his Master Training Specialist (MTS) qualification. Additionally, he was recognized as the SW2 (DV) Robert D. Stethem Award Recipient for 2011.
