COMMANDER JAMES CHO

CDR James Cho was born in Seoul, Korea and is a native of Queens, New York.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.  He was commissioned an Ensign in the Civil Engineer Corps through Officer Candidate School in 1997.
 
His tours include assignment as the Engineering Officer for Facilities Engineering at Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler, Okinawa, Japan; Team Leader at Residential Officer in Charge of Construction, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Flag aide to the Commander of Naval Facilities Engineering SYSCOM Command (NAVFAC) Pacific; Individual Augmentee with Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; Strategic Planner for Shore Readiness, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Fleet Readiness and Logistics); Public Works Officer at Naval Base San Diego; Future Operations Officer at NAVFAC Headquarters; and operational tours as the Detail Officer in Charge of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FOUR, CENTCOM Plans Officer for the THIRTIETH Naval Construction Regiment with deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operations Officer of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE THIRTY THREE with deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and Commanding Officer of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FOUR.
Cho is a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, Joint Professional Military Education Level One, a member of the Acquisition Professional Community and a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Hawaii.  His personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd), Navy and Marine Corps Commendations Medal (7th with Combat “V”), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
