CAPTAIN Laurie Scott

Captain Laurie Scott is a native of Hemingway, South Carolina and was commissioned an Ensign in 1996 through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL.  Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign, Master of Military Science from U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College and completed the Senior Executive Fellows program at Harvard Kennedy School.
 
Scott’s previous operational assignments include Air Detachment OIC, Bravo and Charlie Company Commander, and Special Operations Force Support Platoon OIC while assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) THREE; Chief Staff Officer for FIRST Naval Construction Regiment; Operations Officer for Naval Construction Group ONE/30th Naval Construction Regiment; and Commanding Officer of NMCB THREE where he was responsible for the well-being, training and operational readiness of 581 Sailors executing engineering missions around the world in support of America’s national interests.  During his tenure as Commanding Officer, NMCB THREE received back-to-back (2016 and 2017) Battle “E” and Peltier awards for unit excellence, and consecutive (2016 and 2017) Navy Project Good Neighbor Community Service (Large Sea Command) awards.
 
Scott’s previous shore assignments include Public Works Zone Manager, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, FL; Assistant Resident Officer-in-Charge of Construction, Naval Station Mayport, FL; Operations Department Business Assessment Branch Head, Aide to the Chief of Civil Engineers, and Navy Expeditionary Combat Enterprise Assistant Deputy Chief Operations Officer while assigned to Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Headquarters, Washington, DC; Facilities Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM) Action Officer, Commander Navy Installation Command, Washington, DC; Assistant Regional Engineer, Joint Region Marianas, Guam; Assistant Operations Officer, NAVFAC Marianas, Guam; Public Works Officer, Naval Base Coronado, CA; Operations Officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest, San Diego, CA; Commanding Officer, Officer-in-Charge of Construction China Lake, CA.
 
Scott is a registered professional engineer (civil) in the District of Columbia, a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps, a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, and a Life Member of the Society of American Military Engineers. He is the recipient of multiple personal, service, unit and campaign awards.
