Commanding Officer

Captain Cameron Geertsema earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M (class of ‘94) and was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School (Pensacola, FL). He also holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas and a Master of Arts from the Marine Corps University (Quantico, Virginia).
 

Captain Geertsema’s operational tours of duty include assignments as Office-in-Charge and Company/Staff Officer for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 7, Operations Officer for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 and the 25th Naval Construction Regiment and Commanding Officer for Naval Mobile Construction FIVE. During these tours he served and deployed to Central Command (CENTCOM), Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), Pacific Command (PACOM), Europe Command (EUCOM), and Africa (AFRICOM) in support of various exercises, humanitarian and combat related operations.
 

Captain Geertsema’s shore assignments include duty as Assistant Public Works and Environmental Officer for Naval Support Facility Thurmont; Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction for NAS Sigonella; Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Director for PWD Jacksonville and as the Assistant Regional Engineer for Navy Region Southeast. Additionally, he served as an OPNAV Action Officer in the Logistics and Strategic/Business Planning Division (N40), as the Aide/Deputy Executive Assistant to the Director of Material Readiness and Logistics (N4), and for the Secretary of the Navy in the Office for the Administrative Review of the Detention of Enemy Combatants, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Additionally, he served MCICOM/NAVFAC SW as the Director, Installation and Logistics for MCAS Yuma.

Served as the Commodore, 22nd Naval Construction Regiment, Gulfport, Mississippi, and then served as the NAVFAC Pacific Vice Commander (July of 2020-June 2022).
 

Captain Geertsema is a Registered Engineer in the state of Texas, a Certified Energy Manager, designated a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, and a member of the Acquisition Professional Community (Level III, Facilities Engineer & Contracting). His personal awards include the Legion of Merit (2 awards) , Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), the Joint Service Commendation Medal (2 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (7 awards), and the Army Commendation Medal. He has earned various unit, campaign, and expeditionary ribbons and medals.
