NAVFAC SOUTHWEST MEET THE BUYERS IN CHINA LAKE

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest will host a Meet the Buyers Event followed by matchmaking with NAVFAC Southwest prime contractors and Government personnel on February 25, 2020, from 0830 to 1600 PST at the Kerr McGee Community Center, The Petroglyph-Pinnacles Room, 100 W. California Avenue, Ridgecrest, CA 93555. You are encouraged to monitor the beta.sam.gov website for updates to this announcement.

This is a multi-purpose event. The morning session will include NAVFAC Southwest presentations consisting of a discussion of the projected work and project schedule for the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake earthquake recovery effort. Following will be a panel dialogue with representatives from NAVFAC Southwest Operations, Capital Improvements Business Line, and Acquisition, as well as Naval Air Warfare Center and the City of Ridgecrest, to include a question and answer period. The afternoon will consist of matchmaking for participants to interface with NAVFAC prime contractors in a one-on-one setting. The purpose of this session is for interested parties to provide capabilities statements and their availability to the prime contractors. The matchmaking session will be in an open house forum. Businesses are encouraged to be prepared with detailed capabilities statements. This is not a request for proposal, nor will NAVFAC Southwest be awarding contracts at this event. All NAVFAC Southwest future contracts will be solicited through the established regulatory procedures. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement or any follow-up information requests.

Businesses that are not currently NAVFAC Southwest Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC) holders that are seeking subcontractors in association with the earthquake recovery efforts are invited to participate in one-on-one matchmaking. UPDATES from the Industry Day Event on Wednesday, 18 December 2019

SAN DIEGO - Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest held an industry forum, Aug. 1, 2019 in San Diego, to discuss upcoming construction requirements for the earthquake recovery, repair, and reconstruction effort of Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake, California.

"I want to return combat capability to China Lake as fast as I can," said CAPT Mark Edelson, NAVFAC Southwest commanding officer. "That's my job. I hope you want to do a little of it with me, take on another challenge, push yourself a little harder, and do something else for the United States."

Edelson opened the industry forum with an invite to contractors for a business opportunity to rebuild combat capacity of Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake He provided a sense of scale of construction needed, and asked for help from contractors to plan how they would approach the problem of labor and cost factors for reconstruction efforts.

Edelson and a panel made up of NAVFAC Southwest personnel answered questions and received comments on reconstruction efforts for Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake from contractors in attendance.

NAVFAC Southwest Chief Engineer John Coon provided an overview of the initial assessment of the earthquake damage and shared NAVFAC Southwest's preliminary assessment of potential future construction projects associated with the recovery effort.

The panel was looking to find out more about factors that contractors have to be able to price in on restoration efforts.

"The purpose of this industry day is to provide a brief overview of the upcoming requirements, as well as to obtain valuable feedback from industry," said Renae Kvendru, NAVFAC Southwest chief of contracts. "This industry day will also serve as a part of the Navy's market research to determine any potential 8(a), HUBZone, Service Disabled-Veteran Owned and Woman-Owned Small Business sources that may be interested and capable of performing the work.

The recent California Ridgecrest magnitude 6.4 and 7.1 earthquakes that occurred in July affected China Lake base facilities. The work needed to repair Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake include services to repair, replace, upgrade, and construct new facilities, utilities, and roadways that have been damaged by recent earthquakes. Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake is a large military installation located in Kern, San Bernardino, and Inyo Counties.
