Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral fiber that due to its strength and heat resistance was used in a variety of construction materials and manufactured goods. Undisturbed asbestos containing material (ACM) poses no threat, however improperly disturbing or managing ACM can result in harmful fiber releases.
The primary objectives of the asbestos management program are to protect personnel from harmful exposures to airborne asbestos fibers through cost effective management of ACM and to control and abate threats to the environment through proper management, removal and disposal.
The Asbestos Program Manager serves as single point of contact for asbestos-related activities as identified in the Japan Environmental Governing Standards Chapter 15. COMFLEACTINST 5090.10 provides further information or if you have questions please contact the Asbestos Program Manager.
