Mr. Blanton began his career as a Civil Engineer Corps officer in the fall of 1996. Over the span of 10 years, he was exposed to multiple facets of the NAVFAC enterprise. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FORTY was his indoctrination into the Navy and the Seabees. Deployments to Guam and Bosnia Herzegovina delivered on the promise of high-intensity work with an increased world view. Subsequent tours in the Public Works Departments in Camp Lejeune, Souda Bay, Greece, and Norfolk offered measured growth in both the Public Works and Design and Construction business lines. Mr. Blanton served as an Individual Augment with the Army in Kabul, Afghanistan, supporting the growth of the Afghan National Army.
Following the Navy, Mr. Blanton spent the next four years in a mix of public and private institutions focused on construction and facilities maintenance. Two notable experiences include teaching in an Outward Bound experiential-based charter middle school followed by thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. In December 2011, Mr. Blanton entered federal service as the Deputy Public Works Officer (DPWO) at NAVFAC Far East for Public Works Department (PWD) Yokosuka.
He transitioned back to the private sector with Clark Construction in June 2013. As Director, Facilities Management, he led the company’s first Base Operating Service contract. In addition, Mr. Blanton successfully secured federal O&M contracts across the country with Navy, GSA and Veterans Affairs clients. Mr. Blanton moved into a role with the firm as Senior Project Manager in construction. He controlled, oversaw and executed all financial aspects of a $135 million renovation of Cannon House Office Building.
In December 2017, Mr. Blanton returned to federal service as DPWO for PWD Washington. Subsequent positions held before transitioning into the Business Director role include Deputy Operations Officer and Senior Project Manager at NAVFAC Far East and Supervisory General Engineer at PWD Guam at NAVFAC Marianas.
Mr. Blanton is a licensed professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the territory of Guam. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He and his wife have two children.
