COMMANDER Joshua "Josh" Sharp

Commander Sharp is a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a M.S. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University.

He began his career as a Platoon Commander in Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5 in Port Hueneme, California and deployed to Afghanistan. Next, he reported to Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Marianas where he was the Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction of Naval Hospital Guam and Assistant Public Works Officer of Naval Base Guam. He returned to the Seabees and led the Air Detachment and Detail Horn of Africa for NMCB 74, providing expeditionary military and humanitarian construction throughout East Africa.

Afterward, he became Naval Special Warfare Group 4’s first Staff Civil Engineer at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, where he provided project and real estate planning, facility management, environmental oversight, and interagency liaison with NASA. Subsequently he moved to NAVFAC Hawaii as the Construction Team Lead for outlying areas of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam which also included Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands.

He led the Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division at Naval Support Activity South Potomac, providing design, contracting, construction, and facilities service support to Research and Development activities at Dahlgren, Virginia. He subsequently served as the Public Works Branch Manager at the White House Military Office.

He then served at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi as the Public Works Officer, providing facility planning, construction, maintenance, and environmental support to flight training operations and the Army’s largest helicopter maintenance center.

He reported to Officer in Charge of Construction Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in May 2026, ​supporting the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program with a $3B dry dock replacement and supporting infrastructure.

CDR Sharp is qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare officer, a Professional Engineer in the State of Connecticut, and an Acquisition Professional Member. He is a certified Contracting Professional, Public Works level III, and has completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1. He has been privileged to serve with units that received the Presidential Unit Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation (two awards).
