August brought continued progress across the P-209 Dry Dock 5 project for the Officer in Charge of Construction Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (OICC PHNSY).

The team added a second temporary concrete batch plant onsite to support construction of the dry dock walls. For perspective, Oahu has six permanent concrete batch plants, while P-209 now has two dedicated to this project.

Deep below the water’s surface, crews placed 300 cubic yards of leveling course for the dry dock pump well, which will help remove water from the dock. Crews are now preparing the reinforcing steel for the next underwater concrete slab.

Across the project, crews are also installing utilities, placing underwater concrete, and building the waterfront walls. The team reached an important milestone by driving the final pile for the east wall and completed the concrete foundation for a new electrical substation, while making progress on concrete grade rail beams.
