Robert Stiles

Captain Bob Stiles is from Pierre, South Dakota and graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering before being commissioned as an Ensign at Officer Candidate School in Pensacola in June 2000. He received a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Clemson University.
 
Captain Stiles’ previous operational tours include an Individual Augmentee assignment with the Army Corps of Engineers in Fallujah, Iraq, prior to reporting to the Seabees of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) ONE THIRTY-THREE in Gulfport, Mississippi. There he served as the ALFA Company Commander, Detail Buehring Officer in Charge (Kuwait), Task Force Denali Officer in Charge (Iraq), and Training Officer. He then joined the 25th Naval Construction Regiment where he was the Assistant Operations Officer during the Regiment’s deployment to Kandahar under U.S. Forces–Afghanistan, followed by his assignment as Future Operations Officer for the CENTCOM and SOUTHCOM AORs. He later returned to Gulfport as the Executive Officer of “The First and The Finest” of NMCB ONE during two homeports and a distributed Pacific deployment across 14 sites.
 
In addition to his operational tours, Captain Stiles served as the Assistant Public Works Officer at Naval Air Facility, El Centro, California, attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and was an Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction for the Air Force’s Aviano 2000 Program under the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) field office in Aviano, Italy. He was the Assistant Public Works Officer for Naval Base Kitsap, NAVFAC Northwest, where he was responsible for Bremerton, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Manchester Fuel Depot, and Naval Hospital sites. He served as the Civil Engineer Corps Lieutenant Commander Detailer and Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Placement Officer at Navy Personnel Command, after which he reported to Director, Shore Readiness Division (OPNAV N46) as the Installation Operations Program Manager where he was responsible for the $7.2B base operating support portfolio. Prior to his current assignment with NMCB ONE, he was the installation Public Works Officer for U.S. Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia.

Captain Stiles returned to “The First and The Finest” and assumed Command of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE in July 2020.
 
Captain Stiles is a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, a registered Professional Engineer in the state of North Carolina, a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps, and is JPME I qualified through Air Command and Staff College. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal.
